CCE actively seeks to support our learning community. Our goal is to create a sustainable education program that is able to provide enjoyment, learning, and impact into our society. Our partnerships are just one way that we are achieving this.

The ANU Centre for Continuing Education is proud to support the work of Lifeline Canberra. CCE is all about lifelong learning and the betterment of our community. The Lifeline Bookfairs are a great way to engage in learning while helping to raise funds for the crisis support phone lines here in Canberra.

Lifeline Canberra exists to support people in crisis and save the lives of those experiencing thoughts of suicide. For over 46 years, Lifeline's highly skilled volunteers have provided 24/7 support via their local 13 11 14 crisis support service. Lifeline Canberra telephone crisis supporters listen with care and acceptance, whatever the circumstance, and provide support and information to people in need.

Lifeline Canberra Bookfairs

Entry to the Lifeline Canberra Bookfairs is by gold coin donation.

Our main Bookfairs at EPIC offer over 250,000 donated items for sale. We have a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, including rare books and collectables, children's books, textbooks and foreign language books. You'll also find magazines and pamphlets, sheet music, comics, maps and atlases, talking books, records and CDs, DVDs, games and jigsaws.

Lifeline Canberra's Bookfairs are the largest gathering of book-lovers in Canberra and they raise a major portion of the funding needed to keep our local 13 11 14 crisis support and suicide prevention service available to the community.

CCE is proud to partner with the Shanthi Foundation in a bold new program providing Palliative Care non-award education programs. Working closely with Dr Suharsha Kanathigoda from the ANU Medical School, our 2019 plans are to support this education initiative. In addition, CCE's financial support to the Shanthi Foundation is our way of giving back to our community, proving that education is really a transformative social good.

Shanthi Foundation, is an Australian registered charity, with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, with a vision to propagate and develop Palliative Care throughout the world, to give compassion, dignity & comfort to patients with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer & Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

As you may be aware, providing physical, emotional, spiritual comfort (Palliative Care) to patients with life-limiting illnesses, has been named a basic human right by the United Nations / WHO recently. Palliative Care is not euthanasia and ensures that patients live their lives to the fullest, with Dignity & Comfort. Further information about the Shanthi Foundation is available here:

Our support of the Shanti Foundation reflects our belief that lifelong learning is about giving back to something that is bigger than our selves. While we encourage learning, it is when learning is coupled with a purpose that we can truly achieve positive change.
