The CCE visual arts program offers interactive courses for the budding to experienced artists, from classic to modern techniques, in the areas of: photography, drawing, painting, woodwork, steelwork, ceramics, textiles and more.

Course outline

Discover the extraordinary material of glass. In this hands-on course, learn the basic skills of glass cutting, cold working and kiln forming. Walk away with six completed projects of your own design. All glass materials will be provided, and have been incorporated into the course price.

Learning outcomes

This class will cover; cutting glass, glass selection, preparing glass and kiln for firing, designing for glass, various fusing applications, slumping glass, making simple slump moulds, working on a torch to create inclusions, firing schedules,  dilutions and glass behaviour in kiln, working with frit, kiln carving and basic finishing techniques.

Dust mask, Safety glasses, Suitable working clothing (including closed shoes, long pants and an apron for over shirt), pencil and paper, small ruler or measuring tape, Scalpel or small Stanley knife and scissors.
