Anabela Romano


Anabela was born in Lisbon, Portugal.

She received her Degree from the Portuguese Catholic University, and for 5 years her studies covered not only Classical, but also Portuguese, Brazilian, and African Culture and Literature.

From 1990 until 2013 Anabela was a teacher, an internship advisor of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, and worked together with one of those responsible for implementing the new discipline of PLNM (Portuguese as a Second Language). Defending the Constructivist model focuses on the student, didactic, and pedagogical methodology by authors like François Touchon, Michael Arendt, and J.M. Alves are the main influence in her classroom.

Anabela came to Australia with her family in 2013 and has been teaching Portuguese at CCE since 2015.

In 2019 Anabela achieved the status of Associate Fellow (AFHEA - ANU EFS).

She lives in Canberra, and in her spare time, she dedicates herself to watercolor and as a volunteer guide of the National Gallery of Australia.
