Marina Hirose


Marina is a native speaker of Japanese and holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics at ANU (thesis topic: Teaching Spoken Special Features in Japanese) and a graduate certificate of TESOL and Foreign Language Teaching at UC.

Marina’s learner-oriented and interactive teaching style is based on her extensive teaching experience in different countries and her own experience as an adult learner of English and Spanish. Having taught learners of various nationalities and cultural backgrounds, she has developed a strong interest in intercultural learning with extensive experience in teaching academics and professionals.

She has taught the Japanese language and culture in the Japanese programme at ANU for four years and her students have described her as approachable, helpful, and open to feedback.
