Rina Singh


Rina has a BA (Hons) in Hindi literature from Delhi University, a Teachers’ Training Diploma from the Vidya Institute, New Delhi and she has been teaching Hindi for the past 15 years. From 2003 to 2013 she taught Hindi in leading private schools in India.  Since 2016 she has been teaching Hindi at the Australian National University (ANU).

Rina grew up in India in as a native speaker of Hindi in an area where the predominant language was Hindi. Consequently, she has a sound understanding of contemporary Hindi literature and its history, Hindu mythology and Bollywood movies.

She is adept at including important cultural elements into prepared lessons. At the ANU she has taken classes at the introductory, intermediate and the advanced levels.

Rina takes pride in her ability to build confidence in students by explaining complex concepts in a simple manner and responding to all questions patiently. Rina firmly believes in creating a class room mood that is relaxed, fun filled and rewarding particularly for the student. Her teaching style focuses on real life examples, including text book materials and resources from Hindi websites, newspapers, TV and films.
